2019 graduate Gyona Rice won a Mosaic Award (recognition for diverse representation) and a Gold Student Addy award for Mind Your Speech, created through her 2020 Graphic Design Senior Thesis courses (ARTD 4070). Gyona’s work “is a campaign and movement focused on the individual and how they think about people of color. Through this campaign, I aim to ensure that more people recognize that microaggressions are unacceptable in our community, give more individuals the tools and resources to take practical action against microaggressions and other forms of racism and empower individuals and predominately white institutions to prevent & respond effectively to microaggressions. People are different, and everyone acts in their way. The campaign is also a campaign promoting equality for everyone. No one wants to have to be in an unaccepting environment, especially in college.” Gyona’s work includes a website, interactive game, posters, and reflection cards. To develop her award-winning work, Gyona worked with several BGSU GD faculty members and her primary thesis advisor, Associate Professor Lori Young. Congratulations Gyona!

Graphic Design 2021 senior Lindsay West won a Bronze Addy award from the Toledo American Advertising Federation (AAF)  for her work, Vision: BGSUGD/AIGA Portfolio Review Day Materials 2020, created through an Independent Study (ARTD4700) in Spring 2020 with Associate Professor and GD division chair Jenn Stucker. Lindsay’s work included concept strategy, brand identity, promotional materials, and digital promotions. Lindsay had to pivot the print design aspects of work during the middle of the project to switch gears to Covid. Congratulations Linsday!

The BGSU GD faculty is proud of these talented students and their contribution to BGSUGD’s excellence.
