hindsight 20/20
Screen print, cyanotype, embossing
Our eyes degrade every year, but that degradation intensifies when we use our digital devices for hours upon hours a day. We start to lose our vision, and it becomes more difficult to see after years of this constant abuse to our eyes. Screen flashes and blue light emissions from these devices are the two main causes for this damage.
Blue light emission is indicated by the blue cyanotype method used across the forty prints. Each printed eye is different and gradually degrades as each print represents one year, for a total of forty years. The overprint varnish eye chart challenges the viewer’s readability experience, just as digital devices impact our eyes. The embossed braille, “hindsight 20/20” becomes a call for behavioral change for the viewer to use devices less.
